What is Atopic Dermatitis?

Also referred to as Dermatitis or Atopy or Eczema, Atopic Dermatitis is a skin disease that is common across the globe. It is often a long-lasting or chronic disease and is considered a kind of skin allergy. Patients diagnosed with this disease usually suffer from severe itching, reddening of the skin, and rashes.

Symptoms

The general symptoms of Atopic Dermatitis include

Causes

Most cases of Atopic Dermatitis are observed to be hereditary but there are a significant number of cases that are due to allergies to certain substances that affect the immune system. This disease can be seen in people of all age groups right from childhood to old age. Some people may experience this problem seasonally while some others frequently throughout their life. It varies depending on their allergic reactions to certain foods, environmental factors etc.
