What is Nephrotic Syndrome?

Nephrotic syndrome is characterized by the loss of protein levels in the blood because they are flushed out of the body through urine. People with nephrotic syndrome will usually have high levels of protein in the urine and very low levels in the blood. This occurs because of the damage occurred to the blood vessels in the kidney called Glomeruli. This damage causes them to filter water from the blood and sends it out as urine leading to loss of protein.
